A harsh laughter

A harsh laughter is on the rise
(I see a bad moon rising)
It populates the bars and pubs.
Not the open belly laugh of warmth, More the cackle of the big black crow.

As we drown our sorrow
(I didn’t vote for them)
This cackle cuts me to the quick:
Yet try we must, to fly.
